On June 26, a 100 percent electric Nissan LEAF will compete in the 89th Pikes Peak International Hill Climb with veteran Nissan off-road truck racing champion Chad Hord behind the wheel. The Nissan LEAF will compete in the Production Class for electric vehicles and, other than the removal of some interior parts like seats and carpets to make room for safety equipment, such as a roll cage, racing seats and safety harnesses, the LEAF will be very close to the way it left the factory. read more at http://bit.ly/jxh9PK

Nissan Wins 10-Year NYC Taxi Contract

Three finalists have been in a bidding war, trying to win a 10-year contract to build the next-generation of taxis in the Big Apple: Japanese auto manufacturer, Nissan Motor Co. Ltd.; Turkish auto manufacturer Karsan Otomotiv; and U.S. auto manufacturer Ford Motor Co. With a bid based on its NV200 minivan, Nissan triumphed all.

In mid-May, the Nissan Leaf Nismo RC took to the track for a shakedown. Come late next week, the electric racer will return for more on-track action.

Nissan has just announced that the Leaf Nismo RC will hit the tarmac during the "Le Mans vers le futur," a demonstration event that will take place prior to the 79th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Nissan Leaf Nismo RC will hit the track for two demonstration runs; the first on Thursday, June 9 and the second on Saturday, June 11.
