Nissan Forecasts High US Profits

It has been a banner year for Japanese auto maker Nissan, as their sales in the United States are at an all time high. Sales of economy models like Sentra and Versa, along with the highly popular mid-level Altima and newly redesigned Rogue, have brought Nissan to the forefront of automotive sales.

In fact, according to Nissan Motor Co. their forecast profit will more than triple this fiscal year as auto demand recovers in North America and sales grow in China.

Nissan Leaf Pre-Orders Now Over Capacity

Since earlier this year, Nissan has been taking pre-order reservations for their all new 2011 Nissan Leaf EV. For only $99 down at dealerships like Weston Nissan in Davie, FL, anyone could reserve their new Nissan EV.

The Japanese auto maker initially expected to produce no more then 12,000 vehicles for this first run. But already 13,000 reservations have been made in North America. Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn said Thursday the company is seeking to boost capacity to meet the demand.

Nissan Leaf EV Up to 6,600 Reservations

Nissan Leaf, the Japanese auto maker's first EV (electric vehicle) is scheduled to hit Weston Nissan in Davie, FL later this year. Already, the new import has grabbed loads of attention, mostly thanks to a hefty online marketing campaign.

According to the Detroit Free Press, more than 6,600 potential Leaf buyers had already put in their reservations for the new car by April 23rd. This was  just a few days after the auto maker started taking reservations for the all-electric hatchback.
